Kopinga Marae: School Camp Costs

So... what will it cost to have your next class or school camp at Kopinga Marae?

Your costs are:

  • Airfares (including connecting flights)
  • Food
  • Marae and Facilities hire
  • On island transport
  • Access fees to some attractions
  • Activities fees for some activities, such as boat charters or equipment hire.

Camp Costs:

Airfares: See camp travel options here >> for more details on this topic. Basically this will be the most expensive part of your school camp at Kopinga, but will still be cheaper than many overeas school camp destinations.

Food: It does pay to bring all foodstuffs with you as prices here on the island are dearer than in the mainland. There may be some items that you dont have to bring, (fish, for example) but generally you need to work out meals for each day, for each person, and bring the lot, including drinks and milk. We can help you with this, as we have had the experience before. Call us.

Marae hireage: This is one of the best value for money venues anywhere in the whole country. "Only 5 years new," and equipped with all of the "mod cons," Kopinga Marae can easily cater for all of your class needs. Kopinga Marae can sleep 65 people.

Prices start from as little as $10 per person per night.

This could be all that it costs for your group for one nights hire. Thats it!!!!!

That price includes GST and electricity and heating and hire of pillows, matresses and pillow covers. Thats really it.

If you want other stuff, such as data projectors and dvds and screen, etc, then there is an additional charge for those.

So,... Work it out.....for as little as only $10 pp, (inclusive of GST) per night, your group, of up to 60 persons, could be staying at Kopinga Marae and experiencing Rekohu, with a warm and comfortable base to operate from. Thats only $600.00 per night for 60 people. Call Hokotehi Moriori Trust now!

On-Island Transport: You really need to read the camp travel options page first. Click here>>>We cannot tell you what it is going to cost, unless you tell us how long its for, and approximately when you are thinking of coming. That way, we can approach the owners of the bus services and charter companies and discuss the best possible deal for you, with them.

Access Fees for some Attractions: Some local attractions charge an entrance fee, usually to cover the costs of maintenance or caretaking. Some are purely commercial, but all have to be paid if access is to be granted. Fortunately, none of them are exhorbitant, and all are in fact, quite reasonable and camparable with charges for similar attractions in New Zealand.

Activities Fees: If, as part of your school camp at Kopinga Marae, you decide to go fishing on a boat, or take a scenic flight around the islands, or a day trip to nearby Pitt Island, these activities incur an extra cost. We can work these out for you.

Chartered fishing boat or chartered boat tours: We advise you to use our preferred provider; Chatham Islands Fishing Charters and Tours, using their fabulous "Cat O Nine". This vessel is well-suited to taking large groups fishing or touring and offers a number of options for school groups. Contact us and we will work out a price for this exciting activity.
